Book Review: Confessions of a Queen B*

It has been way to long since my last Book Review.

What can i say?

I am still working on the regulation of all this. I am new to this. What can i say? And how often can i say it?

Yeah i should really just finally get into a schedule and stop saying that.

Anyways. I have another Book Review today. And i really love this one, so read this and then go pre-order this book because we all need more snarky characters in our life.

So on with the review already.

Title: Confessions of a Queen B*
Author: Christa McHugh
Language: English
Pages: 200 (Kindle)
Overall rating: 5 stars out of 5
Book series: Yes, this is the first of "The Queen B*" series
Book received through: NetGalley
Summary on the book:
"Alexis Wyndham is the other type of Queen B - the Queen Bitch.
After years of being the subject of ridicule, she revels in her ability to make the in-crowed cover via the exposés on her blog, The Eastlake Spy. Now that she's carved out her place in high school hierarchy, she uses her position to help the unpopular kids walk the hallways.
Saving a freshman from bullies? Check.
Swapping insults with the head cheerleader? Check.
Falling for the star quarterback? So not a part of her plan.
But when Brett offers to help her solve the mystery of who's posting X-rated videos from the girls' locker room, she'll have to swallow her pride and learn to see past the high school stereotypes she's never questioned -until now."
Worth reading?
Read the long babbling review to know why. Why would i write those otherwise?

*I received this book for free in exchange for a honest review through NetGalley*

Normally I do not compare books to movies or TV shows, but since the book already includes references to such things, why not? And it really is the easiest way to show what kind of book it is:

This book however did not leave me any choice but to say that this is the perfect mixture of “I show you who you really are” "Gossip Girl" style and the snarky, never leave something get to you sarcastic personality from Kat in "10 things I hate about you".

And it works. Perfectly even.

This book does as quite a few similarities to “10 things I hate about you”, so if you loved that movie, why are you still here reading this and not already snatching this book up and sitting down to read it?
But if you want a book with the never-letting-a-comment-unsaid main character, the slightly dumb seeming younger sister that is more popular and love it, the guy that isn’t who he seems to be, the best friend that gives the needed push even if it is not necessary what she indented to do, the slightly strange parents that still try their best and are just very human.

This book has so many different and interesting characters, and best of all they are all very individual. And I also have to point out that the characters are so interesting in many aspects because they are not the typical cast of high schoolers, but a diverse group of people without constantly pointing out that it is there.
There is the overly gay guy, the not-white male main character, the sexual active friend and the virgin main girl. All without judgment or finger pointing for how the characters decides to life their live. Very refreshing I have to say.

I loved the fast paced sarcastic and perfectly honest way the main character Alexis handled situations and at the same time how loveable and in need of loving people she really was. She was not actually as cold and bitchy as she showed herself in school and with the right people around herself, she clearly showed how loving and friendly she really was. But she tried so hard to not show how much she wanted to be accepted and shown that she was more then worthy of being loved and not just seen as a bitch, and at the same time she just enjoyed and loved being the bitch of the school like nothing else.

I was really surprised on how much I really enjoyed the book and how often I had to grin about the situations and sayings that were used in this book.

It is such a fun and easy and light book that is perfect for everyone that enjoys reading realistic but at the same time fun and easy books and loves an intelligent and fast witted character that does not see the need to be pushed around. This book will win you over and make you fall in love with it, simply because of all the lovable characters in it.

It is also a very realistic showcasing of how High School really is and how the students are with each other. It is not sugar coated. It is not dragged through the mud. This book shows honest and direct how it is to be in High School. The good, the Bad. If you love it, if you hate it. It doesn’t matter. You are a specific character, as the book clearly states.

If i could think of another book that i could compare it to, i would, but honestly this book is unique in how it is written that i can not think of even one book that i think is really similar to it.

The best comparison to what I can think of is the one i already made at the start of this review, and that is comparing it to a movie and TV shows so, I will stick to that.

If you loved “Gossip Girl” and the mystery of what is going to be said about the people from school, if you loved “Gilmore Girls” and their fast paced banters and sarcastic comments and pop culture references, if you loved “10 things I hate about you” and Kat with her never ending comebacks and fast wit, you will love this book.

If you don’t know any of those TV shows or the movie I just mentioned, first of all where the heck do you live? And second of all pick this book up, read it, love it and then go watch every episode of the seven seasons that exist of Gilmore Girls and see “10 things I hate about you”. And then go back and read this book again and love it even more.

Also I should add that this is the first book in a long time where I can not wait until the next part of the series comes out to see what else will happen and what the characters will do next. I can not wait until September of this year –also how perfectly fast is the second part coming out?- to get my hands on the next installment and find out what Alexis and Brett will do next.

Alright this is it for today.

Please let me know if you read this book and what you thought of it, because i am interested to know what others think about it because it seems that it is a rather split view on Goodreads, of either people loving it or not really getting into it at all. I would love to hear what you all thought of it once you read it.

Write more later.....
