Book Review: The Hobbit

I am so behind on my Book reviews, you would not believe it. I think i currently have 6 started reviews that i have not finished or posted or both.

So i am working on catching up. It will take a while.

But oh well? Right? Right.

Someday i will stop pushing back posts and not posting for what ever reason, and actually follow the plan i make and not have a huge amount of posts saved and post them instead. Wouldn't that be something?

I have read The Hobbit. And i want to talk about it because i have some things to day about this book. If you are interested -which i hope you are because i also want to hear what you thought about this book. Or if you plan to read it- read on. And see what i thought. And then let me know what you thought.

The Hobbit

"Bible Baggins is a reasonable typical hobbit: fond of sleeping, eating, drinking, parties and presents. However, it is his destiny to travel to the dwarflands in the east, to help slay the dragon Smaugh. His quest takes him through enchanted forests, spiders' lairs and under the Misty Mountains, where he comes across the vile Gollum, and tricks him out of his "Precious" -a ring that makes its bearer invisible, and wields a terrible power of its own."

Favorite thing/moment in the book: Yeah... sorry got nothing other then that i finally finished this sucker!
Worth reading?
I personally do not think so. No.
Sorry for all the fans that love this book, but i think that everyone should read the Lord of the Rings series and leave this book alone.

First thought after finishing the book:
Thank god this is finally over!
Okay, this book guys, this book!

I hate to say it because i know how many people love this book but, dear god this book was boring! I mean that in a way i have not done for a very long time!

I actually had to force myself to finally get this book done, since I have been fighting through this book for two weeks. Which is quite something for a book that is not even 300 pages long! Normally a book that is under 300 pages i read in one sitting no problem. At least not if it is not a extremely heavy read. This is not a heavy read at all. It is just boring.

Now... before you guys start screaming at me if you love this book, i can understand why you would love it. I can see the potential. I can see why people love it. And that is the reason that i gave it the amount of stars i gave this book.

But to me this book felt like a very cheap and world-length worse version of the Lord of the Rings.

That could be because i read the Ring series before reading this. And i really loved Lord of the Rings. That story was fleshed out, that story was complete and thought out and wonderfully written.

Maybe because in a way the Hobbit is a shorter version of the Ring series this felt like a cheap knockoff.

To me Bilbo was mostly a stupid hobbit that i could not understand why the heck he was doing what he was doing or going where ehe was going, or why the heck the entire book even existed since it mostly -to me at least- was about a guy that did not want to be where he wanted to be even though he could have just not gone on this stupid and completely unnecessary "adventure" to begin with!

That is just.... !

Maybe to me this book was so boring and useless, because i constantly waiting for something bigger to happen. For something, anything, to actually happen. All i read throughout this book was that Bilbo did not want to be where he was. that he did not want to do what he was doing. That he was not enjoying what was happening.

And all i thought what, what the heck? Why did you even go with? Why did you go on this adventure when you don't want an adventure? What the heck are you doing wandering around the lands with a bunch of people you don't really like and don't care for at all and have nothing to do with?

So really.... this book was a complete disappointment to me and fell short for all my expectations that i had.

Sometimes that happens. You are excited to read a book and it is not at all what you wanted to read or how you expected the story to be. For me this was one of those books.

Maybe i will try this book again sometime in the future. And maybe i will like it more. Or maybe i will never pick this up again. I will see what i feel like in the future.

What about you guys?
Did you love this book?
Did not like this book?
Are with me on not finding this good?
Or did you love this book when you read it and can not believe that someone would not like it?

Let me know. I am interested to hear if there are others out there that are not in love with this book.

Write more later....
