Top 10 Tuesday: All about music and books
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Brokeandbookish.com, so clearly not my idea!
Okay so this weeks TTT was way easier then i thought it would be.
If you want to hear the long ramble about why i picture the song as a story? Read what i wrote about them under each song.
Or you know just listen to the song and ignore the ramble underneath it.
Or just read that if you like the song.
Or if you hate the song and what to know what the heck i was thinking.
Which ever works for you.
I hope you enjoy some of the songs.
I would love to hear if any of you enjoy similar music and have any recommendations.
Or you know if you can see a story in what i list here as well. Because why the heck not, right?
Okay here we go:
1. "Soldier" by Gavin DeGraw
This is one of those songs that i hear and can picture either a very nice romance novel or a fantastic friendship story -no romance at all.
Just you know... lots of love and trust and unbelievable believe in the other person. All light and fluffy and cute. Which is kind of funny since the song itself is not necessary light and fluffy. But i can just picture the book happening after something big and just building each other up again.
Or taking it quite literal and having a solider come home again and finding that what he/she learned by being a solider can be applied to other live situations as well.
And since we are already by DeGraw, lets just stick with him for one more song!
2. "Not over you" by Gavin DeGraw
Another romance kind of thing. Hey this one and the first one i listed could work in tandem for the same book if you ask me. Starting the story out with being apparent and at the end being together again and doing everything to sty that way... or something. Just saying.
3. "That kind of night" by Tyler Hilton
I would love to have an adult story similar to this song where people in their 80 or 90 come together and remember their wild youth and just share that over a bonfire. Talking about all those kinds of nights where it was just a bit too crazy, or wild or just easy to have fun and how they miss those days. But at the same time, they are kind of glad that that time is behind them and they have the memories? You know what i am talking about? Just remembering the fantastic live they had and sharing it again. Maybe they all been there together. Maybe not. Just sharing their lives and remembering back to what was. Because sometimes that is the best about "those kinds of nights" looking back at them. Do i go to far in trying to explain why i see this as a story? I think so lets move on!
I am doing it again and giving another song by the same person. What can i say?
4. "Give me that summer" by Tyler Hilton
Another romance/contemporary/friendship kind of thing. Just fun and easy. A cute and fun summer romance/friendship story. Maybe something similar to "traveling pants" or something. Just a group of friends having a huge amount of fun and good times over the summer.
Or maybe that cute romance novel where two people always come together over the summer and have a fantastic time, knowing that it will be over at the end of it and just having the best time together anyways.
5. "Gone Gone Gone" by Phillip Phillips
This is a "i loved the time i had with you, thanks for all the fantastic memories, i will always love you" kind of stories. Either because one person died. Or because they moved away. Either way, as the song title says they are gone now and the entire book is just about trying to move on and at the same time not forgetting but finding the good in what was.
Because lets be honest. There are not that many books out there that are not focused only on the sad parts or the bad parts, or the happily ever after that is completely unrealistic. I would love to read a book where it is really just about trying to move forward without trying to forget or wishing it never happened. Just... you know having to exist after losing something that was very dear to you.
Because i think at least once in everyones life that is something they need and can relate too. And i think having a book just ending in a positive message of "you survived through that you can continue on even if it i feels like your heart was ripped out and you have no idea how to go on, you will find a way". i would love a book like that.
6. "I don't want to wait" by Paula Cole
Okay part of this is because i had a little "Dawson's Creek" marathon because i felt horrible and now this stupid song is stuck in my head and won't leave me most likely ever again.
But also because well it would kine of make a good story in a way.
This could basically be the typical YA book now actually if you think about it.
You know, since every book has this love V thing going one, since it is not a triangle if there is not a talk about all three going at it together -as a threesome! (not just sexually! Get your minds behind that gutter people!) I actually would find it very fitting to a story that has an actual love triangle and the three decide, you know what? Lets just make our relationship work all three of us together. And have the motto of "I don't want to wait for our lives to be over!" because honestly, who cares if you are inserted in two people? Give it a try. If one of them doesn't want to, that one is clearly not right for you!
7. "I wanna be sedated" by the Ramones
Can you see this as a book where someone has to go to a family reunion and that is just what goes through the persons mind the entire time?
Orwhere someone has that kind of family that you can only actually survive when you get sedated and so for the 24 hours that the main character has to spend with the family, they are sedated and nobody really notices anything.
I think that would be kind of a fantastic book.
Maybe that is just me.
8. "Mamma said" by The Shirelles
Okay don't think i am crazy. I am not. But lets just... this is one of those songs that once you hear it it is hard to forget about again. And i kind of hummed/sang this for two weeks after hearing it.
But this would make a fantastic baseline for a story about a girl raising a kid and just looking back at what her mother said to her. Like a slightly humorous story about growing up while trying to rise your child and noticing that your mother really did warn you about specific moments in live and now you kind of wish you listen.
And now we are going back to another one that i already talked about but what can i say i kind of love this song very much as well.
9. "Unpack your heart" by Phillip Phillips
I know i already have a good list of romance ideas on here. But this is one of those where I see this guy as actually just wanting to be there for the girl and trying his best to help her without bing a possessive asshat or anything like that. Just this fantastic guy that has is own life but has no problem doing anything he can to help the girl he is in a relationship in.
Or this could also work for a same sex relationship book, where it was all about being comfortable about "coming out" and letting everyone see that it doesn't matter what kind of sex your partner has because that changes nothing at all about your person and it is just important to have a supportive partner that wants the best for you and you for him/her/them.
10. Whiskey in Mind by Christian Kane
Okay i kind of have a country song problem at the moment, i just fell into that and now i have them stuck on repeat! What can i say? Those guys have fantastic voices! Also can i just say that this guy is just overall great, not just his voice? Okay moving on now.
This is a story where I see this extremely strong woman and the shy guy and the woman just going for it. Because why does always have the guy to be the forward one? Why not the girl for one? So lets just write that and go from there! Strong women, people!
(Also if you never listen to any of his songs, do so just for the great voice. Just saying. Thank me later)
I would love to hear if you made a list for this, then please feel free to leave a link and i will check that out.
And i would also love if you listened to any of those songs and see a story wit it. Because then i want to know what kind of stuff you picture when you hear them.
So let me know, lets chat ;)
Write more later...
