Book Review: These Vicious Masks

Does this only happen to me because i am horrible at actually blogging or does other blogger have the same problem?

I keep starting Book Reviews to post on here because i have them and i am excited to talk about the books and share them and just show what i read and want to know what other think about those books as well and then... i just never finish those blog posts!

So now i have over 20 book reviews stacked in my "Draft" section of my blog and finally decided that i should really finally get to it all and FINALLY post those!

And since i have so many i have no idea where to start. Which is a problem once you are behind.

In a way logically i could just work my way from oldest to newest, but yeah that is just not how i work.

So i will be sharing my latest read today, and then see where the wind blows me.

lets get started!

Summary on the book:
"England, 1882. Evelyn is bored with society and its expectations. So when her beloved sister, Rose, mysteriously vanishes. She ignores her parents and travels to London to find her, accompanied by the dashing Mr. Kent. But they're not the only ones looking for Rose. The reclusive young gentleman Sebastian Braddock is also searching for her, claiming that both sisters have special healing powers. Evelyn is convinced that Sebastian must be mad, until she discovers that his strange tales of extraordinary people are true - and that her sister is in graver danger than she feared."

Favorite thing/moment in the book:  The very unique combination of actual "Jane Austen-y" feel with paranormal/magical-y mixture! It was wonderful mix, not overdone in one way or the other. Super easy to read but mostly because the story sucks you in so much that you can't stop and have to know what happens!

Worth reading?
YES! Such a unique and different book that should be read by everyone, those that love classics, those that love paranormal and everyone in between! GO READ THIS BOOK! SO WONDERFUL!

Full review:

First thought after finishing the book: SO much better and wonderful then i could have ever imagine! And the description of "Jane Austen meets X-Men kind of fits perfectly in a way that i would have never imagined!"

Have you ever picked up a book even if you thought "huh, not sure if that can really work, but it sounds interesting!" Because i did. And this falls definitely into that and those two authors? They really made this work!

I really couldn't have imagined that Victorian England writing like Jane Austen meets Paranormal/Magical powers could work in any way. But you know what?

Those two make it work as if it was made to be together!

I loved the writing and the characters! Especially the main girl, since honestly, sass and sarcasm? Just the perfect mix of it that made me love with the book and this book done it beautifully!

It's so nicely written, in a very "classics" short of way, but much easier to read and understand -might have something to do with the very sassy main girl. Just a guess on my part here.

Its very flow-y and connected and made very clear that the authors knew where they wanted their story go end up with. They managed to write the family and society moments such as well as the more "dangerous and dark" moments of the story.

As i already said, i loved the main girl but the sister was great as well. Those two worked together and i loved how they knew each other well enough to be able to communicate with each other without actually having to look at each other. How far in between are books that actually show a nice sibling relationship where the siblings know each other well enough to actually be able to know if their sibling wrote that letter or not?

This book has that! I loved it!

I really enjoyed the powers and magical aspects of it.

BUT the paranormal magical aspects where never really explained. How they work. Why they exist in the people that have it and how they where discovered and why nobody else seem to really know they exist and all that. It was talked about, it was hinted at but never actually explained and reasoned why and how and all that.

Also the ending felt kind of rushed. And by that i really do mean the ending, because the book was great up until literary the last 10 to 15 pages where all of a sudden a lot happened that to me didn't make the touch sense anymore and was kind of a build up for the next book i am guessing.

Those are very small things thought, overall this book was wonderful!

It was such an interesting mixture of victorian England feel with supernatural powers! It made for such an entertaining read!

If you are in search for a fast and easy but completely different and very entertaining book? Search no further! This is it!

If you want a sarcastic, smart-mouthed, sassy main girl? Here is your book!

But even if those two things are nothing that makes you want to pick a book up, this book is still defiantly a must try! Simply because of the completely unique story itself!

Go on, pick it up and read it. And then let me know what you thought!

What about you guys?
